established in 1987
We have been involved with functional medicine since the early 1980’s.
Dr. Julie started in 1984 as a Naprapath in a 300 sq foot office in Edison Park Chicago. The business was named Allies in Health and Dr. Glenn joined her in 1985. They expanded their office to 800 sq ft. and 3 more rooms. We combined our practice in 1987 with a Naprapath that was retiring in Des Plaines (across from the Choo Choo).
Glenn went back to the Midwest Center for Oriental Medicine and got an Acupuncture and Herbal medicine certificate (long before the were giving degrees). He followed his studies with an internship at Cook County hospital in the Pain Clinic. In 1987 the state changed the medical practice act and put Naprapaths and Acupuncturists out of business in Illinois. Drs. Julie and Glenn went back to National College of Chiropractic (now NUHS) and graduated in 1991. Upon graduation in 1991, they moved the practice to the Des Plaines mall and expanded to include a CLIA approved lab for blood draws , UA’s, etc. In 1995 the Des Plaines mall closed and the Drs. moved locations yet again to Broadway Street and remained there for the next 5 years.
In 2000 Freeport Hospital Network (FHN) hired us to start a Complementary Medicine Department. Glenn had (and still does) hospital privileges for Acupuncture. Glenn served on the Tumor Board for 12 years, where he reviewed and discussed cancer cases on a monthly basis. Julie has been involved with hospice and has taught classes on soft tissue work to the volunteers.
In 2009 the Drs. left FHN and started AIH Complementary Medicine (our current 3000sq ft office)
Julie and Glenn have taught at the Naprapathic school and have adjunct faculty status at NUHS, Bastyr and National Naturopathic Colleges .
